More on the compact Smith & Wesson M&P380 Shield EZ pistol (VIDEOS)

New Guns, Product & Industry News

Billed as having an easy-load magazine, light slide pull, crisp trigger, and low perceived recoil, S&W’s new .380 in the 2.0 Shield series gets its “EZ” name honest.

Introduced this week, the M&P380 Shield EZ is designed from the onset as an easy to use personal protection pistol in all of its aspects from “loading and carrying, to shooting and cleaning.”

The 8+1 single stack is compact, at 6.7-inches overall with an unloaded weight of 18.5-ounces, and is internal hammer-fired, which is a plus for those who aren’t fans of striker guns. It also has lots of safety features including a grip safety, which is rare for U.S.-made polymer framed handguns and includes the option for a factory thumb safety as well.

Paul Levy with Brownells has more details below, touching on the flared slide rear that gives the gun a big part of its selling point.
