Man shot by dancing FBI agent in club will have to have surgery (VIDEO)

The attorney for the 24-year-old man shot by a backflip-performing FBI agent on a Denver dance floor says his client was hurt worse than was originally reported.

The Denver Channel interviewed Tom Reddington, an Amazon employee shot in the leg at Mile High Spirits and Distillery last weekend by what was later determined to be FBI agent Chase Bishop, 29, a D.C-based special agent visiting the city for training.

Reddington’s attorney, Frank Azar, said a witness to the shooting applied a tourniquet to the injured man’s leg so that he didn’t bleed out and that he will have to undergo vascular surgery to repair a major artery.

The victim said at first he thought the noise of Bishop’s gun was, “some drunk college kid being funny,” by setting off a firecracker but then, when he noticed his leg from his knee down was completely red, “That’s when it clicked in my head, ‘Oh, I’ve been shot.”

While officials with the FBI and Denver prosecutors are still looking into the incident, no charges have been filed and Bishop has since left the city although at least one witness to the shooting said the agent was drinking and did not come to Reddington’s assistance.

“He just peaced out,” said the witness, Cara Chancellor. “The guy he shot was directly in front of him, about 10-15 feet away. He had to have seen him.”

As for Reddington, he isn’t holding a grudge.

“I wasn’t targeted. Obviously, there was no pointing, no aiming,” he said. “I don’t blame the guy. I’m not vindictive at all. I don’t want to ruin his life. At this point, there’s nothing we can do to fix it. So, let’s just move on and deal with it as best we can.”

Meanwhile, Mile High Spirits issued a statement saying they were saddened by the incident, are looking forward to speaking to the FBI on the matter, and that the victim is welcome “to enjoy complimentary drinks forever.”
