Second Amendment

Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.V., introduced the Protecting Privacy in Purchases Act to stop credit card companies from tracking gun and ammunition purchases with a unique Merchant Category Code on Feb. 13. Moore’s bill aims to protect privacy and Second Amendment rights, preempting state laws that could create a gun registry.

The legislation has support from several organizations, including the National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America, who oppose tracking gun sales.

Moore emphasized that any attempt to collect data on lawful gun owners is unacceptable and infringes on constitutional rights.
