The Live Oak County (LOC) Friends of the National Rifle Association (NRA) recently held their annual banquet and fundraiser, bringing together over 200 people in early February for a night of dinner, auctions, raffles, and entertainment, all in support of local youth and community initiatives.

One of the highlights of the evening was the chance to win firearms, including a Henry Lever Action Supreme 5.56/.223 rifle featuring a Friends of NRA logo. While some firearms were provided by the NRA, many of the silent auction prizes were generously donated by community members.

The LOC Friends of NRA is a local organization committed to raising funds and promoting community involvement. These funds are primarily used to provide grants for youth programs, including the 4-H Shooting Sports Program. Additionally, the organization supports law enforcement training and firearm safety education. Importantly, Friends of NRA ensures that 100% of the net proceeds are directed to qualified local, state, and national programs.

Local Chairman Kenneth Lipton helped organize the first event about five years ago after seeing the success of a similar NRA event in Beeville. “There has been tremendous support in our county,” Lipton said, “and it really helps to benefit the kids.” The LOC Friends of NRA is one of the largest supporters of the LOC 4-H Shooting Sports Program.

The event not only made for an enjoyable evening, but also a meaningful opportunity to promote and preserve the future of the Second Amendment.
