“We’ve never practiced it in church and it’s way different.”
That’s a quote from a 10-year-old survivor Annunciation church shooting in Minneapolis. He was talking about the active shooter drills they do every month. Our country is perfectly OK with our youngest citizens having active shooter drills as a regular part of their curriculum.
Guns are the number one killer of children in the United States of America.
Organizations like Moms Demand Action and others do not want to take away all your guns. That is a billion dollar lie perpetrated by the NRA and gun makers to scare you while they rake in the money.
Organizations like Moms Demand want to take your fears away — that sending your child to school means they might not come home. That your wife or husband or mom or sibling might go to a store and be gunned down. That your friend or dad or neighbor might go to a parade, or a race or their place of worship and be killed by gun violence.
We do not have to live like this.
Let’s transmute our fear and anger into real solutions that have been tested in other countries, so we know they work. Universal background checks, banning assault weapons on our streets, extreme risk protection orders (red flag laws), safe storage. Before it was repealed, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in our country brought down gun violence by 24%.
It’s a give and take, and we’re giving too much when we put our beloved children on the line. Let’s make a world where a child never has to say: “We’ve never practiced it in church and it’s way different.”
