ILA | Colorado: House Committee to Consider “Red Flag” Repeal Legislation

Gun News

Today at 1:30pm, the House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider “red flag” repeal legislation, House Bill 1271.  It is extremely important that NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters contact committee members and ask them to SUPPORT this legislation.

House Bill 1271 repeals Colorado’s extreme “red flag” gun confiscation law and intensifies the standard for an involuntary seventy-two-hour mental health hold.  “Red flag” laws remove law-abiding individuals Second Amendment rights based on uncorroborated evidence that they are dangerous — further, these laws allows for ex parte petitions, providing NO initial hearing for these individuals before a judge and NO access to mental health services or treatment before they lose their constitutional right to possess a firearm.

Again, please contact members of the House Judiciary Committee and ask that they strongly SUPPORT House Bill 1271.
