ILA | Ohio: Gun Owner Victory as Governor DeWine Signs Important No Duty to Retreat Bill into Law!

Gun News

Today, Governor Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 175, legislation that was amended in the final days of session to include No Duty to Retreat.  This important self-defense measure strengthens Ohio’s self-defense laws by stating that individuals have no duty to retreat from a place that they are lawfully present before using force in defense of themselves or others.

Previously, Ohio’s No Duty to Retreat law only applied to residences and vehicles, however Senate Bill 175 expands that to allow for law-abiding gun owners to be able to defend themselves without being required to retreat from any place they are allowed to be.

Thank you to NRA Members and Second Amendment Supporters who took action and continued to call and email their lawmakers in support of the bill.  It was your continued contact that made this possible.  Special thanks to Governor Mike DeWine for signing SB 175, as well as to those legislators that voted in support of the measure.
