Red Wolves

I’m glad to see that Loveland High changed their logo from the Indian to the Red Wolf. … Thank goodness. I get up every morning thinking that wokeness is going to change this world. You woke teachers and you woke school district, you’re getting your way, aren’t you? You need to reimburse all this money it’s going to cost to change this … logo that you never even needed to do and give the money back to the taxpayers of this community.

This idea of changing the Loveland Indian school mascot to Red Wolf is an absolute ridiculous insult. It is a waste of time and taxpayer money. The entire Thompson School Board should be recalled and new members elected.

Senior Center

I would like to know why the Chilson Senior Center has not given any information about (reopening). Most of us seniors have had our vaccines, and for some of us, (the center) is our only outlet. And I would like to know why the city of Loveland hasn’t kept us better informed as to what is happening. We’re not children anymore, and we’d like some answers. And we would like to be able to return.

Stop us vs. them

I totally agree with the (call) “Stop us vs. them.” Please tell everyone that.

New helicopter

I wasn’t aware of a new state-owned firefighting helicopter your caller mentioned with disdain, but after the worst fire season in Colorado history and months of breathing thick smoke, I only wish we could afford more of them. Sadly I doubt this new firefighting tool will be idle for very long. Thank you, Gov. Polis.

Thank you

A pleasant surprise: Tuesday evening, my wife and I enjoyed a lovely meal at the Fourth Street Chop House in Loveland to celebrate our anniversary. To our amazement, a sweet young lady came to our booth and laid some cash on the table. She said, “This is $63 for 63 years of marriage.” We were so amazed at her generosity and wanted to thank her and wish her God’s blessing.

Snowdrifts

Judging by the claims of snowfall amounts last week in excess of 20 inches, apparently the concept of snowdrifts has not reached Loveland.

Courtesy, kindness

Does anyone else remember when character traits such as self-responsibility and respectfulness were common? Was that just a fad? If it was, can we please resurrect that fad? It might make our country and our world a much better place. Not trying to quote the Boy Scouts, but widespread courtesy and kindness would also be fantastic.

Death penalty

We need to bring back the death penalty in this state. Maybe if some of these assassins can witness an execution they wouldn’t be so hasty as to commit a mass shooting. Why punish law-abiding gun owners? These murderers should be the ones punished, whether they have mental issues or not.

What about victims?

I think it’s very sad that the Reporter-Herald had more space for the suspect of the Boulder shooting than the victims.

We told you so

Guess what. The price of gasoline in Loveland at the beginning of the year was $1.95 per gallon. The week after the pipeline was canceled, it immediately rose to $2.45 at the same station. The week after that, it was $2.55. Now I see the price is $3.05. We told you so.

Dog poop

Dog owners, you know who you are. Please pick up after your dog does its business. Don’t leave it for everybody else to see.

The other Columbine

Recall, if you will, there have been two Columbine shootings in Colorado history. Originally the Columbine Mine Massacre at Serene, Colorado. Where is Serene? It’s where the Erie dump is. … It was in like (19)27.

Bullying

Obviously a common factor of many of these shootings is bullying. … Yeah, welcome to America.

It’s not ending

With another mass killing, in Boulder, we keep asking, “When will this end?” The use of weapons of mass killings will begin to end when the Republican Party gets out from under the domination by the National Rifle Association and helps pass federal legislation to ban all of these weapons of mass destruction. And, the NRA is lying when it promotes the idea of that Democratic presidents will take all our guns. That has not and will not happen.

People, not guns

People kill people. It takes someone to operate a gun, a knife, a bomb, a car. It takes another person. A gun doesn’t walk in some place and shoot people. It takes a person to operate that. Gun reform will do nothing.

Media, shooting

I’m sure a lot of people are thinking the way I am, that the news media is just milking this shooting in Boulder. You know, it’s a tragedy unfortunately, people lost their lives, but the news media just dwells on and thrives on negative news, and of course they’re using it to promote gun control. … All it is is a disguise of what’s going on in this country and the real problems like the immigrants flooding across our southern border, our rising … gas prices, our rising unemployment, rising inflation, every dang thing. The news media will use this gun tragedy to take people’s minds off of the real problem. Not saying that this tragedy wasn’t a real problem, but it was a one-day event.
