‘NEWS’? CNN Invites David Hogg to Condemn Gun Owners as Racist Bigots

Second Amendment

If you fear the media is too dependent on experts, they can always just rely on 21-year-old leftists. CNN Newsroom host Alisyn Camerota welcomed Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg on to the Monday show like a Nobel Prize winner to discuss not only the need for gun control in response to gun violence over the weekend, but also gun purchases since the beginning of the year. Mr. No College Degree played amateur sociologist and smeared gun buyers as bigoted individuals who fear those who are different.

Camerota lamented, “And you’ve been trying to get our attention about this for the past three years and it’s not only gun violence going up, it’s also gun purchasing. So, in just the past year, in 2020 there were nearly 23 million guns sales across the United States, that’s up 65 percent over the year before and then in January, okay, after the insurrection at the Capital there were two million gun sales, and that’s up 75 percent compared to the January before that. So, what’s that about to you?”

What the January 6 riot has to do with anything, Camerota didn’t say, but a much more logical explanation is that stimulus checks coupled with pushes for gun control have contributed to the surge in purchases.

Not that Hogg was interested in logical explanations. Instead he maintained, “So, I think it’s about fear.” Not a fear of gun-grabbing politicians, but:

I think it’s about the fact that as a country often times we would rather, unfortunately, turn on each other and point to someone’s skin color or point to someone’s immigration status or their gender, or their sexual identity, and claim that’s the threat when in reality we should all be working together against the sources of evil creating this gun violence and the injustice that promotes this gun violence and gun purchases in the first place.

Hogg also alleged that pro-Second Amendment politicians don’t care if people are killed. “They’re letting thousands of Americans die every year simply because they are more afraid of what the NRA will do in their next election than whether or not there is going to be another school shooting in the community or every day act of violence and that has to change.”

Despite just claiming Republicans don’t care about murder and that gun owners are a bunch of bigots, Hogg added:

We have to come together as Americans and realize this isn’t about being Democrats or Republicans, that 6-year-old, that 14-year-old, that—you know–12-year-old that die  every day. They don’t have political affiliation… we have a possibility as older people to act to protect them so that in the future they’re able to be college students and don’t have to come on CNN and talk about the fact that we’re a country that uniquely has to deal with this situation. We don’t have to. It absolutely doesn’t have to be this way.

It also doesn’t have to be that gun owners and conservative politicians are described as racially insecure bigots who don’t care about school shootings.

ALISYN CAMEROTA: I know. And you’ve been trying to get our attention about this for the past three years and it’s not only gun violence going up, it’s also gun purchasing. So, in just the past year, in 2020 there were nearly 23 million guns sales across the United States, that’s up 65% over the year before and then in January, okay, after the insurrection at the Capital there were two million gun sales, and that’s up 75% compared to the January before that. So, what’s that about to you?

DAVID HOGG: So, I think it’s about fear. I think it’s about the fact that as a country often times we would rather, unfortunately, turn on each other and point to someone’s skin color or point to someone’s immigration status or their gender, or their sexual identity, and claim that’s the threat when in reality we should all together against the sources of evil creating this gun violence and the injustice that promotes this gun violence and gun purchases in the first place.

Because the reality is what’s going to help solve the situation is not somebody buying another AR-15 or another gun. It’s all of us working together to change the political system and the corruption and system of loopholes that has brought us to this place where a corporate — a corporate lobby essentially like the NRA is able to put such a — a chokehold on our elected officials that they’re letting thousands of Americans die every year simply because they are more afraid of what the NRA will do in their next election than whether or not there is going to be another school shooting in the community or every day act of violence and that has to change.

We have to come together as Americans and realize this isn’t about being Democrats or Republicans, that 6-year-old, that 14-year-old, that—you know–12-year-old that die  every day. They don’t have political affiliation. They’re a kid that wants to grow up they deserve to grow up in peace and security no matter their zip code, no matter the color of their skin or where they come from or who they are and we have a possibility as older people to act to protect them so that in the future they’re able to be college students and don’t have to come on CNN and talk about the fact that we’re a country that uniquely has to deal with this situation. We don’t have to. It absolutely doesn’t have to be this way.
