The View Claims the GOP Makes ‘A Lot of Money Off Children’s Deaths’

Second Amendment

Two weeks after Jane Fonda called for the “murder” of pro-lifers on ABC’s The View, a trans lunatic (which they never mentioned) shot up a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee. And on Tuesday’s show, the dangerous rhetoric continued to flow as Joy Behar suggested Republicans and the gun industry “make a lot of money off children’s deaths.” In addition to that heinous comment, Whoopi Goldberg raged at law-abiding gun owners and falsely declared it was her right to know how many guns the people around her owned.

After playing a soundbite of radical left-wing Congressman Maxwell Frost (D-FL) asking what the House will do to respond to mass shootings, joyless Joy Behar gargled: “Nothing. They’ll do nothing. They do nothing. It’s all about the money.”

Behar went on to suggest that the people in the gun industry and Republicans in Congress got rich off murdered kids. “Okay, follow the money. This is what this is all about. The gun lobby. All these people who are selling guns. They make a lot of money off children’s deaths apparently in this country,” she sneered.

In particular, she targeted Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn (R) as having somehow benefited from the tragic event:

You know, Marsha Blackburn a senator from Tennessee. She, of course, sent out her thoughts and prayers. She is 13th on a list of senators who have received the most money from the NRA. She received over $1.3 million in donations while representing a state with 1,273 gun deaths a year (…) They’re worrying about other people, books – baloney items. This they will not do anything about it.

The faux-conservative on set, Alyssa Farah Griffin bloviated about how “92 percent of Americans support some kind of background checks for gun ownership.” A hollow and ignorant statement since background checks are already required for all legal gun purchases.

Clearly uneducated in what she was talking about, Farah Griffin added that “[t]he more deadly the weapon, the more difficult it should be [to own]. The more screening, the more background checks, the more trainings you should have to go through to own one.”

While Farah Griffin was talking about the need to “balance constitutional rights and keeping kids safe,” a raging Whoopi Goldberg started screaming about how compromising was terrible and falsely suggested the Constitution didn’t protect the right of the people to keep and bear arms:

Why are we compromising?! You know what I’m tired of – I don’t mean to be rude – to cut you off – I am tired of trying to find a way to justify you being able to keep 75 guns in your house! I am tired of trying to figure out a way to say, listen, we have rules and regulations. The Constitution is very clear. Scalia changed the meaning of what the Constitution says. Scalia changed it.

Racist Sunny Hostin built off of Goldberg’s BIG LIE about the Second Amendment. “It was militia, it wasn’t for personal ownership,” she huffed.

Again, pure ignorance was on full display as Hostin screamed about how no one can hunt with the AR platform (Click “expand”):

HOSTIN: And I don’t know why you need an AR-15. AR-15s are weapons of mass destruction.

BEHAR: They are weapons of war.

GOLDBERG: Nobody needs them.

HOSTIN: No one needs them. You can’t hunt with them. When saw those pictures in The Washington Post, that 3D animation, I was like, “who hunts with this gun?!”

BEHAR: Well, they would demolish the deer.

HOSTIN: There’s nothing left!

FARAH GRIFFIN: The fact is, the vast majority of Americans would at least support greater screenings and protocols to be able to own something like this. We have to be able to –

HOSTIN: Why own it at all?

She also praised a Washington Post animation that falsely showed bullets fired from ARs tumbling through the target. A notion that was called out as false on Monday by Stephen Gutowski, a firearms reporter and founder of The Reload (and a CNN colleague of Griffin).

Nearing the end of the segment, Goldberg grew more unhinged and compared owning an AR to owning a tank. “I don’t have a tank! I can’t go and buy a tank,” she shouted as she also started gesturing for a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher. “I can’t buy any of those. AR-15s have no use in normal daily life!” she declared with zero knowledge.

She then screamed about how it was supposedly her right to know how many guns each individual gun owner had in their home:

I don’t know why you got to have 5011 of them! But maybe you do. But I want to know that you got them! Because I want to be sure that I’m aware of what’s going on in my periphery! And if you’re not willing to do that, then we all have a problem!

She concluded her tirade by suggesting armed guards at schools don’t work and hinting gun rights advocates don’t care about the lives of kids.

The View’s dangerous anti-Republican, anti-gun rights screaming was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Ancestry and General Mills. Their contact information is linked.

REP. MAXWELL FROST (D-FL): It is likely that at this moment, the next mass shooter is planning their shooting. What will this chamber do about it?

[Cuts back to live]

JOY BEHAR: Nothing. They’ll do nothing. They do nothing. It’s all about the money.

You know, Marsha Blackburn a senator from Tennessee. She, of course, sent out her thoughts and prayers. She is 13th on a list of senators who have received the most money from the NRA. She received over $1.3 million in donations while representing a state with 1,273 gun deaths a year.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: But I refuse to believe that our leaders are so inept that they cannot find a way to balance constitutional rights and keeping kids safe. I’m a Republican who fundamentally believes in legal responsible gun ownership. 92 percent of Americans support some kind of background checks for gun ownership. The more deadly the weapon, the more difficult it should be. The more screening, the more background checks, the more trainings you should have to go through to own one.

I have come of the generation where Columbine traumatized us. But I’m not like the Gen-Zers who –they expect a school shooting, they going to know someone.

[Crosstalk]

They’re trained by them. We are harming a generation of young people by not addressing this.

I was heartened by something yesterday. Chris Murphy, Connecticut Democrat, who I agree on virtually nothing, but he’s so passionate about this issue. He said, okay, if we can’t move an assault weapons ban, I will be willing to say why don’t we put in place, trainings, background checks, mental health screenings to be able to have one.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Why are we compromising?! You know what I’m tired of – I don’t mean to be rude – to cut you off –

I am tired of trying to find a way to justify you being able to keep 75 guns in your house! I am tired of trying to figure out a way to say, listen, we have rules and regulations. The Constitution is very clear. Scalia changed the meaning of what the Constitution says. Scalia changed it.

BEHAR: How did he change it?

SUNNY HOSTIN: It was militia, it wasn’t for personal ownership.

[Crosstalk]

FARAH GRIFFIN: –this is why I agree with what Chris Murphy trying to do is most substantial gun reform that we’ve seen happen this year, that made major steps; it doesn’t go far enough. It was Tom Tillis, it was Chris Murphy –

GOLDBERG: But when will it go far enough?! When is it going – When is it going – When are people are going to figure out – When are people going to figure out that just as you were saying, I have to have a license to drive. It’s not a compromise. We don’t discuss it. You either get a license or you go to jail.

So to me, you want to have 7011 gun?! We need to know that! We need to know what you got! Because you are now being painted with the same swab all the people who are killing people left and right with legal guns! We need to know what you got!

HOSTIN: And I don’t know why you need an AR-15. AR-15s are weapons of mass destruction.

BEHAR: They are weapons of war. They does any person –

We have to be able too –

HOSTIN: Why own it at all?

SARA HAINES: The NRA is –

FARAH GRIFFIN: We will be talking about this issue forever if we start from a place that we have to get all guns off the street.

GOLDBERG: NO! It’s not get all guns off the street!

HOSTIN: It’s those guns!

GOLDBERG: There are certain guns you have – I don’t have a tank! I can’t go and buy a tank!

[Applause]

I can’t buy any of those – [gestures for a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher]

HOSTIN: A flamethrower! Can you buy that?!

GOLDBERG: I can’t buy any of those. AR-15s have no use in normal daily life!

HOSTIN: None!

GOLDBERG: None!

And again, I don’t say give up all your guns. I don’t know why you got to have 5011 of them! But maybe you do. But I want to know that you got them! Because I want to be sure that I’m aware of what’s going on in my periphery! And if you’re not willing to do that, then we all have a problem!

Telling people put armed guards in schools doesn’t work. Talk about Uvalde if you’re not sure how that went down. Talk about what kids are dealing with. These are our kids. They may not be your kids. But they’re my kids. They’re your kids. They’re somebody’s kids. What the Hell?!

We’ll be right back.
