HARRISBURG — Former President Donald Trump returns to Pennsylvania next month to give the keynote address at the National Rifle Association’s Great American Outdoor Show.

Trump’s visit to the state’s capital is scheduled for Feb. 9. He’s slated to speak as part of the NRA’s Presidential Forum, his first scheduled event in Pennsylvania in 2024.

The day before, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case that will decide whether Trump will be barred from appearing on Colorado’s Republican primary ballot concerning his actions connected to the attacks on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Pennsylvania again figures to be key in determining the next U.S. president. Approximately 80,500 votes separated Trump and the 2020 victor, President Joe Biden, in winning the Keystone State. The primary election is set for April 23, though it appears the Biden-Trump rematch is all but inevitable. The general election is on Nov. 5.

Biden has visited Pennsylvania three separate times this month. He gave a speech on Jan. 5 marking the third anniversary of the Capitol assault, excoriating Trump for false claims of a stolen election.

The NRA notes that next month’s event will mark Trump’s eighth address to its members. Trump is a life member of the gun rights organization.

A press release by the NRA announcing the scheduled event notes that the presumptive Republican nominee in the 2024 presidential election promised in 2016 “never to let NRA members down.”

“As President, Trump upheld this commitment by appointing a record-setting number of judges who respect the Second Amendment, designating firearm retailers as critical infrastructure during COVID-19, and unsigning from the ATT arms trade treaty on stage at the 2019 NRA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis,” the release states.

The NRA bills its Great American Outdoor Show as “the world’s largest outdoor show.” It’s held across nine days and features more than 1,000 exhibitors at the Farm Show Complex. Approximately 200,000 people attended last year’s show, according to the NRA.
