Second Amendment

Former President Donald Trump will be a featured speaker at the National Rifle Association’s Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg this week. Here’s everything you need to know about the event.

Trump’s keynote speech will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Pa. Farm Show Complex’s Large Arena. Doors for the event open at 3 p.m., but attendees are not permitted to line up until after 12:30 p.m.

Admission to the speech is included with the purchase of a ticket for the Great American Outdoor Show, which can be purchased online for $15 per day or $26 for a two-day ticket. Admission to the Great American Outdoor Show is free for children under 5 accompanied by a paid adult.

The United States Secret Service will be conducting security screenings before guests enter the Large Arena. All guests at the event are subject to searches of their person and belongings.

Firearms, firearm accessories, ammunition, knives, laser pointers, selfie sticks, signs, umbrellas, backpacks, and aerosols are all prohibited from the keynote event. A full list of prohibited items can be seen here.

The Pa. Farm Show Complex will not hold patrons’ firearms during the speech and bags of any kind are “strongly discouraged,” the Secret Service said.

Trump is outspoken about his support for the NRA, the Second Amendment, and self-defense rights and has spoken at several NRA events in the past.

“President Trump’s unwavering support for the Second Amendment, and his track record of protecting the rights of gun owners make him an exemplary speaker for this momentous event. His fellow NRA members can’t wait to hear from him for the eighth time,” said NRA President Charles Cotton.

The Great American Outdoor Show – the world’s largest outdoor show – is taking place from Feb. 3 through Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

The show features over 1,000 exhibitors throughout 650,000 square feet. In 2023, the event had around 200,000 people in total attendance.
