There have been at least 45 mass shootings in America so far in 2024. Over half are in schools.
Yet too many members of Congress and senators completely ignore this domestic slaughter. They say it’s not that serious of a problem or not a problem at all.
I guess neither was Pearl Harbor. The way it’s going, maybe America’s school children would be safer going to school in Ukraine.
Now, am I advocating gun control? No. What I am advocating is federal and state background checks on all firearm sales. This would make it much more difficult for bad guys and crazies to purchase firearms.
I understand that many elected officials are held hostage by the gun lobby, the National Rifle Association and the firearms industry. Most Americans know this. Also, I suspect a minority still believe the Second Amendment was not written by the Founding Fathers but that it came straight to America by God.
Have the NRA or the gun lobby ever come out with any solutions to the mass killing of America’s schoolchildren. Never.
Here is my serious solution: bulletproof flak jackets, sizes small, medium and large, issued to all students. The students would wear them in school, then leave them in their lockers when they go home. Who would pay for a national program like this? The gun lobby and the NRA.
