RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The NRA is lauding Governor Rhoden for recently signing gun legislation into law.
NRA State Director Brian Gosch says the laws will remove some gun-free zones.
“We know gun-free zones don’t work, whether it’s Sutherland Springs Texas or Colorado, these are generally places the bad guys target to hit soft targets or to hit as many victims as possible,” Gosch said. “What these bills did along with some others that he signed is enhance Second Amendment rights in South Dakota and really appreciate those efforts.”
Rhoden recently signed three gun laws into effect. The laws include one allowing college students and staff with enhanced permits to carry concealed pistols on campus. Another bill would bar local governments from restricting employees and volunteers from having guns on government property. The bill also expands the carrying of concealed guns at bars.
Mom’s Demand Action for Gun Sense in America told KOTA Territory News Wednesday they did not think the new laws were sensible. They said they had concerns about having guns on campuses and in bars.
