The U.S. House of Representatives worked Wednesday night into Thursday to pass H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

The bill included language that Second Amendment advocates nationwide, including in BamaCarry, which bills itself as Alabama’s only “No Compromise” gun rights group, are supporting.

U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) initially included the elimination of a $200 transfer tax on gun suppressors in the bill. However, late Wednesday night, as talks went on, he was able to remove them from the regulatory purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA) altogether.

BamaCarry alerted its members Thursday that the fight isn’t over and asked them to contact U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) for their support.

“This is a HUGE opportunity to rip apart one of the worst gun control laws in American history,” BamaCarry said.

The group credited its members and those on a grassroots level who took action, saying, “It’s only because gun owners like you have been making your voice heard in Washington. That means no more tax stamps. No more ATF delays. No more treating basic firearm accessories like contraband. But now it’s up to the U.S. Senate, and we need Alabama’s Senators to stand firm.”

The addition of Section 2 of the Hearing Protection Act to H.R. 1 was a massive win for NRA members and gun owners everywhere. John Commerford, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), released the following written statement: “This represents a monumental victory for Second Amendment rights, eliminating burdensome regulations on the purchase of critical hearing protection devices. The NRA thanks the House members who supported this bill and urges its swift passage in the U.S. Senate.”

Tuberville has already expressed his support for the bill.

According to an alert sent by BamaCarry, the group asking the senators to do more as well, saying, “Not only should they protect this amendment, they should go further by adding a version of the SHORT Act to the Senate bill, which would fully deregulate SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs — slashing more of the NFA’s unconstitutional restrictions and stopping rogue ATF bureaucrats from weaponizing the law.”

“This is our chance to shred some of the worst parts of the gun control regime — we can’t afford for weak Republicans to screw it up,” BamaCarry added.
