United States: In a sobering revelation, a seasoned counterterror operative has flagged the unsettling presence of Iranian sleeper networks quietly embedded across rural segments of the United States—seemingly invisible, yet potentially poised for carnage.

Following the United States’ surgical military maneuvers on multiple Iranian nuclear installations on June 22, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) unfurled a National Terrorism Advisory Bulletin. The communiqué underscored a sharpened climate of risk, warning of a possible surge in Iranian-aligned or homegrown terror.

“The chance of lone-wolf radicals activating within the Homeland escalates if Iran’s high clergy decrees a call for vengeance,” the DHS bulletin cautioned. “Iran has persistently vowed to avenge US officials it blames for the demise of a senior Iranian commander in January 2020.”

Jonathan Gilliam—once a federal sleuth with the FBI and now a specialist in clandestine threats—shared his fears with Fox News Digital. According to him, these covert agents may not be hiding in shadows, but right before our eyes, according to Fox News.

“They’re likely camouflaged amid everyday settings,” Gilliam said. “That’s the spine-chilling part. Over the past four years, we’ve witnessed systems unravel, allowing unchecked inflows of foreign operatives.”

He placed blame squarely on current immigration enforcement, suggesting that lenient border directives under the Biden administration have paved an open runway for Iranian infiltrators.

“They can just stroll up to our southern frontier and claim asylum,” Gilliam emphasized. “Instead of detaining and vetting them through DHS or ICE channels, they’re ushered in with little scrutiny. That’s an open invitation to bad actors.”

Following the Pentagon’s strike on Iran’s nuclear nerve centers, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reportedly intensified crackdowns on Iranian nationals suspected of entering unlawfully.

According to inside federal sources cited by Fox News, over 130 Iranians have been apprehended since June 18. As of now, ICE is detaining approximately 670 Iranian individuals.

Gilliam further raised concerns that these embedded agents might choose America’s heartland—not its metropolises—as the stage for future violence, as per Fox News.

“Rural enclaves lack hard security shells,” he noted. “These sleeper factions could shift focus from dense urban targets to countryside arenas. If we examine the trajectory of attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023, and India earlier this year, it’s plausible to foresee a similar pattern—perhaps at a rustic concert, county fair, or seasonal tourist hub.”

The concept of terror not erupting from bustling cities, but from serene backwoods, stirs a deeper fear—that the threat may already be among us, cloaked in normalcy and biding time.
